What SUFA Teaches
See. Understand. Facilitate. Assist.
These four steps are the foundation of SUFA. They guide participants to respond to substance use with curiosity, compassion, and confidence, turning awareness into early action.
UNDERSTAND WITHOUT JUDGEMENT
Recognize the spectrum of substance use and the many paths to recovery.
FACILITATE A CONVERSATION
Create a safe, respectful space for open dialogue about what someone is experiencing.
ASSIST WITH NEXT STEPS
Support the person in identifying what they need and how to get there.
SEE THE SIGNS OF UNHEALTHY SUBSTANCE USE
Notice early behavioral, physical, or emotional shifts that may point to unhealthy substance use.
